Life is like opening a tin of sardines

We are all of us looking for the key. Some of us think we’ve found the key, don’t we? We roll back the lid of the sardine tin of life, we reveal the sardines, the riches of life, therein and we get them out, we enjoy them. But, you know, there’s always a little piece in the corner that you can’t get out. I wonder, is there a little piece in the corner of your life? I know there is in mine.

PRAYER REQUESTS:

As a family, the Gwynn’s ask for prayers for Bruce (Sian’s elder brother – 68yrs). Bruce was born with severe learning difficulties – but is one of life’s characters, particularly with his great knowledge of music and films (as those who have met him would testify!). This past week, Bruce had to endure a 6hr bowel operation in Morriston Hospital. He is currently sedated and on a ventilator, with the current Covid restrictions, no-one is allowed to visit him or be with him. Please remember Bruce, Sian and all the family in your prayers at this difficult time. To make a What’sApp prayer request, speak or text Jeremy or Simon – or contact Canon Phillip.

HOWARD THOMAS R.I.P.:

Sadly, well known community figure Howard, passed away on 4th May aged 81yrs. Howard was the Hon.Treasurer at Dunvant Rugby Club and was involved in many community, sporting and business associations. He was known to a wide group of friends and acquaintances across the City – and wider afield. Our thoughts and prayers are with those whom he was closest. Sadly, with the current Covid restrictions, his funeral will be a private (by invitation only) service at Morriston Crem, with no more than x10 in attendance. It is hoped to have a service of celebration for Howard’s life after the current restrictions are lifted.

GOOD TO WELCOME CELIA HOME:

It is good to know that Celia Hall (Warden at All Souls) is now home from her two month exile in North Wales, following the death of Celia’s brother-in-law. Celia stayed on for a few days, in order to help her sister sort things out, but then got caught up in the lockdown. But she’s home now, happily looking out over the bay, watching the tides ebb and flow and sunrises and sunsets.

ASCENSION DAY – end of the Easter season.

Traditionally Ascension Day is an important day in the liturgical life of the church. With buildings closed by Covid-19, the cycle of prayer goes on, as ever. Thursday of this week is Ascension Day, and Brecon Cathedral will be live-streaming a celebration of the Holy Eucharist at 6pm. Simply go to the Brecon Cathedral website for details, or refer to Digital Church on Killay's new web-site.

If You would  like to be kept informed of our news and events within the Parish. If so please enter your details below and you will be added to our weekly Newsletter distribution.
